Banjo Slinging Lizard
This is a post apocalyptic lizard mutant character I finished in November of 2021. I wanted to tell a story through his design and I though it would be an interesting challenge for me to do so through a musical instrument. I also had a great time experimenting with animating him using motion capture.
Animated with Xsens motion capture
I used these reference images to get a sense for a rural post-nuclear fallout musician character. I wanted his instrument to be recognizable and personalized.
Here is more reference. I was debating on whether I should make him a lizard or a toad. I also considered of giving him robotic appendages.
Next came silhouettes. The final character is more of an amalgamation than any one of these iterations.
Detail variations. There was debate on whether he should be a mutant or an alien based off silhouettes 25 and 26.
